Let The Game Begin

Last year I made up a game to keep the knitting a bit more

interesting when everything knitting started to seem ho-hum.

On December 31 I had nothing on my needles.

The socks of doom had been happily finished and happily received.

So .... it was a good time to let the game begin!

The "Rules"

1. Pick a knit project and cast it on. This project continues alone for that day.

2. On day 2 pull up random number generator and put in 0 - 2. Work on the project it picks. Every subsequent day I will put in 0 - one more than projects I have on the needles. I will work on the project the generator picks ---------------UNLESS, I don't want to. The rules are a bit loosey-goosey on that. I can either "spin the dial" again OR if I really have something I want to knit, I knit that. The hard in fast rule is that I cannot start another project unless the generator says so. If I go off course, it has to be with a project already started.

3. Then the race is on .......which project will get finished first.

I have enough needles to do at least 30-35 projects. Most would be socks, but there are other projects kitted up and ready to go. Feel free to join in if this is something that would float your boat.

Let's meet the players.

Player 1

Yarn:  Emma's Beautifully Basic
Colorway:  January 2024
Pattern:  New Years Socks

This sock was my New Year's Day cast on. I wasn't happy to notice that the yarn is 100% merino (no nylon), but I think it will be okay. I'm not hard on my socks.

Player 2

Yarn:  Cape May Fiber Co. MCN
Colorway:  Winter Waves
Pattern:  Tidal Wave

The eagle eyed among you may think , HEY! I've seen that sock yarn before. Yes. Yes, you have. This project was the one I cast on after the socks of doom. I was about 3/4 way through the first repeat and the leg seems to be twisting.

I decided that wouldn't do and recast on yesterday. As you can see time got away from me and not very much was done.

However, random number generator says that this is what I will be knitting on today. Hopefully, I can figure out why the sock was skewing left.

There you have it.
The first projects of the year.

Hope your week is going well and that you find lots of time to
pick up your projects.

  1. That sounds like fun, but I don't have enough needles to have lots of projects going. I really like the color of the first sock. So pretty.

  3. 30-35 projects?! Oy! I could never do that many. But I do like your system for not having to make a decision. This should be fun to watch!

  4. Beautiful yarn! I’ve got a pair of socks on the needles, but I only knit on them during a weekly FaceTime call with my sister and two nieces.

  5. I'd go crazy keeping up with all those projects. I hope the number generator is kind to you.
